Prosegur rehires worker but still non-compliant with judicial order
The worker fired by Prosegur in Colombia, who won the right to be reemployed by the company in September 2014, was finally rehired on Wednesday the 11th of March in the city of Pereira. An arrest order against the person legally responsible for Prosegur in the country is still valid as, despite the rehiring of the worker, the company still hasn’t complied with the judicial order in its entirety.

UNI Americas condemns the decision of the US government to "declare a national emergency due to the unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States caused by the situation in Venezuela"; on the 9th of March, Barak Obama issued a new Executive Order pursuant to the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (50 USC 1701) which grants authority for the President to exercise broad powers.

Colombian Police Look For Prosegur Legal Representative
The National Police of Colombia visited the Colombian Head Office of Prosegur on Tuesday afternoon, to execute an arrest order against the company’s legal representative in the country. Alejandro Agudelo. When local authorities arrived at the company’s offices Agudelo was not on the premises. The Colombian Police continue to look for Agudelo who is to serve three days in detention.

Carrefour has a notable increase in women managers
Since it was first set up in 2011, all of the countries in which the Carrefour group operates have been following the Women Leaders programme. The resulting synergy has had tangible effects on turnover, with a notable increase in the numbers of women managers from 8,9% in 2009 to nearly 37% in 2014.

IKEA Greece: Trade union continues fight for decent wages and good working conditions
The severe economic crisis and the deep recession in Greece continues to have a dramatic impact on the country’s economy, including on employment in the retail sector.
The trade union of IKEA workers in Greece, with the continuing support of UNI Commerce and its affiliated Greek Federation OIYE, have been standing together to protect wages, employment levels and working conditions in these times of crisis.
The struggle continues but shows signs of success.

Colombia and Peru: Pay tribute to Fidel and Luis, tireless fighters for human and union rights
On the 4th and 6th of March, 2015, UNI Americas held tributes in Colombia and Peru to reaffirm the commitment to the fight for human and union rights.
In 2010 UNI Global Union established the Freedom from Fear Award which is given in recognition to the brothers and sisters who face company and/or government repression for defending human and union rights. We know that our region is full of heroic men and women that every day stand up to these policies risking not only their peace of mind but also that of their families.
