Sacking of Unite Convenor Mark Lyon at Ineos is a ‘mockery’ of justice

Unite in the UK has launched legal action over the sacking of its vice-chair and Ineos Grangemouth convenor Mark Lyon, accusing Ineos of ‘hypocrisy’ and making a ‘mockery’ of justice.

Mark who has 25 years of service to the company was tried in his absence and told of his dismissal 0n 4th February for not stopping the union from commenting over fears of job losses at the plant which were reported in Scottish national newspaper The Daily Record on 2nd December 2013.

Libyan Trade unions rising up in North Africa

The UNI MENA office in Tunisia hosted a delegation from the General Union of Libyan workers (UGTL) that was created in February 2011 (10 days after the Libyan revolution). This is a revival of the old trade union organization which had been banned under the Gaddafi regime. The delegation was headed by Neji Sharif, Secretary General of UGTL who is from the postal sector, Nermine - Sharif, Head of International Relations and Chair of the ports, marine and customs union and Younes - Werfelli from the banking sector.

Colombia: We are afraid, but we are not cowards

It has started growing. Quietly, and it will grow more and more. Colombia DHL workers begin to join a union.

On Sunday, February 2, in an atmosphere of contained excitement, the STPC Regional Board Bogota was created.  This event, important in itself, constitutes history when we see that the President and other members of this regional board are DHL multinational workers.
