The following letter was sent to Labour Minister Errol McLeod by Dave Smith, General Secretary of the National Workers Union on February 14th 2014:

I am directed by the executive committee of The National Workers Union (NWU) to bring to your attention the horrendous situation with regard to the issue of delays experienced by workers and their unions in seeking recognition for the purpose of collective bargaining.

Jennings to FT: "Short-term views are what threaten"

In a letter published in the Financial Times, General Secretary of UNI Global Union, Philip Jennings stated that the "robotic short-sightedness of our leaders, rather than improvements in technology, are the real threat to our livelihoods."

Here is the full letter:

"Sir, Martin Wolf is correct to assert that the expected robot revolution will require a redistribution of income and wealth if it is not to further feed the inequality gap (Comment, February 12).

Guidelines on Working Time in the European Sport Sector Finalized

The social partners in the European sport sector finalized an agreement on the text of a set of Guidelines on Working Time for the European Sport sector today in Brussels.

New report reveals shocking conditions for American bank workers

American bank workers have fewer rights than bank workers in countries such as Tanzania, Philippines, Colombia and Brazil a new report finds.

The report by UNI Global Union, Committee for Better Banks and CWA found that American banks deny basic rights to workers on a scale larger than any other major banking industry. These rights include job protection, fair pay and access to fundamental social safety nets.
