Orange strengthens global agreement with UNI Global Union

28 March, Abidjan – UNI ICTS held a meeting with the management of Orange in Ivory Coast where the commitment to the global agreement signed in 2006 was strengthened. At the meeting Orange agreed to start negotiations to strengthen the global agreement with UNI in the area of health which will complement and build on the 2006 agreement and provide a common set of standards for all Group employees outside of France, with a particular focus on HIV Aids.

UNI Apro Executive Committee adopted Resolution Congratulating DiGi Employees Union, Malaysia

Moving for the adoption of the Resolution at the 18th UNI Apro Executive Committee Meeting held in Singapore 6-7 April 2014, UNI Apro Regional Secretary, Christopher Ng recalled the process to organise the DiGi Employees Union at the signing of an MOU between the UNI MLC and Joho Roren Japan during the 3rd UNI Apro Regional Conference held in Manila July 2011. The MOU was signed by Tomoyasu Kato, then President of UNI Apro and Joho Roren Japan, and UNI MLC President Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal, and witnessed by the UNI Apro Regional Secretary, Christopher Ng.

Greens/European Alliance MEP Raises Questions About Prosegur in Colombia

The Green / European Alliance Member of the European Parliament Raul Romeva i Rueda, has tabled a series of questions that go right to the heart of the denial of trade union rights by the multi national Spanish Security Company Prosegur. Prosegur is coming under increased scrutiny over its behaviour in Colombia, in Brazil, in Peru and in Paraguay.  The questions also ask what sanctions might be available to the European Parliament when a major company from a long standing EU member behaves in such an unacceptable way. Business services deemed crucial for the EU economy and its sustainability

The High Level group on Business Services delivered its Final Report today.

Oliver Roethig, UNI Europa Regional Secretary, chaired the ad-hoc Working Group on Skills.

The High Level Group was launched by Vice-President Tajani and Commissioner Barnier in March 2013 to help define a European policy agenda for the all-important Business Services sector.

Sugar Sector EU Social Partners support the hairdressing agreement implementation

In March 2014, the European Social Partners in the Sugar sector, namely the European Association of Sugar Producers (CEFS) and the European Federation of Food, Agriculture and Tourism Trade Unions (EFFAT), issued a joint statement in support of the right that Social Partners’ agreements are made legally binding.
