IBM unions agree new global strategy to fight job cuts

IBM unions have agreed a new global strategy to fight thousands of job cuts and deteriorating working conditions at the computer services giant.

The Global Union Alliance @IBM, alongside UNI Global Union, IndustriALL Global Union and IndustriAll European Trade Union, will issue a series of demands to IBM management designed to protect the firm’s loyal workforce at a time of huge upheaval for IBMers.

Japan Postal Group Union on overseas' research mission on liberalization

The Japan Postal Group Union (JPGU) conducted an investigation on the lessons of liberalization in Post in EU countries such as the UK, Belgium, and Netherland as well as in  North American countries like the US and Canada during the week of March 17. These postal missions were fully backed by the UNI Post & Logistics' coordinated programs and scheduled with postal unions for the JPGU.

AIBOBEF Tripartite Settlement Pays Wage Revision Arrears to Regularised Employees

A Tripartite Settlement has been signed between the All India Bank of Baroda Employees' Federation, the Management of Bank of Baroda and the Regional Labour Commissioner, Mumbai.

As per the terms of the tripartite settlement, wage revision arrears of the 9th Bipartite Settlement w.e.f. 01-11-2007 will be paid to the eligible regularised employee within 45 days of the settlement.

For more than four years now, EU Athletes in cooperation with EGBA, RGA and ESSA have created a unique programme to educate professional athletes on the risks surrounding match fixing.

ISS Workers in UNISON take strike action to win back their terms and conditions

UNISON members employed as cleaners at London's School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) are mounting a long running dispute to secure the same terms and conditions as other staff working at the University. They were outsourced to ISS and under the terms of their contracts they receive statutory sick pay instead of the occupational sick pay offered to SOAS employees. They also receive only minimum annual leave entitlement and do not have access to the university pension scheme.

Meeting of UNI Apro G & P Committee in Japan

The UNI Apro Graphical & Packaging Committee held its meeting in Tokyo on 10-11 April 2014 where it was warmly welcomed by Japanese affiliates. Issues discussed included the update of the action plan adopted in Bangkok, the new challenges confronted by the sector and the 4th UNI Apro Regional Conference to be held in Kathmandu in November 2015. Andy Snoddy said: " We had a very productive meeting and I look forward to future developments of our sector in this region".

Korean Health Workers organize to fight against corporatization

The KHMU is organizing its annual One-Day School for all the ordinary members across the nation during April. The 2014 annual one-day school for members are being implemented in ten cities such as Seoul, Busan, Daegu, and Gwangju. It is expected that over 10,000 out of 44,000 KHMU members join the one-day school across the nation. This one-day training is combined with press conferences, rallies, demonstrations, and one-million signature, as part of KHMU’s national campaign against the government policy to commercialize and further privatize healthcare services.
