The Interaction Program on the “Importance of the women participation in the Constituent Assembly” was organized by UNI Nepal Women Committee together with the network organization CLASS Nepal on 8th December, 2013. The program also marks the 16th day of activism for Violence against Women.

While the successful election of the Constituent Assembly induced a celebratory mood, it was agreed that results of the Constituent Assembly in terms of the gender inclusiveness and participation was not satisfactory.

The UN Human Rights Day is commemorated around the world every year on the 10th of December. This year, UNI Apro celebrated Human Rights Day at the Seminar entitled “Contemporary Perspectives on Economic & Social Rights” organised by the EU Delegation to Singapore.

The event was attended by Ambassador Dr Michael Pulch, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Singapore and Ambassador Prof Chan Heng Chee, Singapore Representative to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights.

Close to 50 representatives from UNI, ITF, PSI, IndustriALL & BWI affiliates took part in the Joint GUF Discussion Forum on Effective partiipation by trade unions on the International Day on the Elimination of violence against women held at Maniben Kara Hall, Mumbai on 25th Nov.2013.

Sis. Shubhada Kamte, Chief Labour Officer,Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation spoke on the current status of the Violence against women, the legal provisions to prevent Violence and the implementation in India.
