Global Labour Tax summit: tax is everyone’s business

PSI and FES hosted a Global Labour Tax Summit in Geneva last week attended by Global Union leaders, national unions, academic experts, civil society organisations and other allies working on tax justice. Global tax rules are currently being discussed in the UN, OECD, G20 and sustainable development forums, and there is widespread agreement that the global tax rules don’t work. Workers are being asked to pay more tax and receive less while multinationals and the richest in the world often avoid paying tax altogether.

Report of PSI and UNI Global Union Strategy Meeting on Fighting Corruption and Securing Whistleblower Protection

On 16 September 2015, Public Services International and UNI Global Union held a strategy meeting at the International Labour Organisation in Geneva to build co-operation between the global union federations to fight corruption and secure whistleblower protection at work.

 

UNI Global Union and PSI affiliate members from Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Inter-American region were joined by ILO ACTRAV Deputy Director, Anna Biondi, ITUC Geneva Director, Raquel Gonzalez, and representatives of Industriall and the ILO Staff Union.
