UNI Global Union demands an end to T-Mobile USA labour abuses

At the AGM of Deutsche Telekom, UNI Global Union, representing more than 20 million workers from over 900 trade unions in the services sector, demanded an end to the company’s belligerent anti-union stance in the USA. Deutsche Telekom’s American mobile communications service T-Mobile USA has come under criticism for its punitive anti-worker practices and labour abuses.

Over 40,000 CWA members at AT&T stage three-day strike

40,000 CWA union members from AT&T across the US staged a three-day strike from Friday to Sunday to defend their jobs against rampant outsourcing by the company.

Over half the workers who stopped work were contact centre and retail workers for AT&T Mobility, the mobile arm of AT&T. Contact centre workers are concerned for their job security with AT&T moving work to low-wage contractors, including at offshore locations.

Support 40,000 AT&T telecoms workers on strike in the US

Over 40,000 CWA union members at US telecoms company AT&T are walking off the job for three days from this Friday 19th of May.

The dispute is over the mass outsourcing of AT&T jobs to low-wage contractors, slashing the pay and benefits of workers.

Teleperformance loses second case to fire Dominican union leader

The world’s largest outsourced contact centre provider Teleperformance, has failed in its attempt to fire Dominican union leader Oliver Benson. The four labour court judges who heard the case unanimously found that Teleperformance could not dismiss the union leader.

The court case against Oliver resulted in a social media activity on the 28th of February, the day of the Telepeformance’s 2016 profit announcement, protesting the company’s attempt to fire the union leader. Oliver’s case was raised with telecoms company, and Teleperformance client, AT&T by CWA union in the US.
