Public Sector Banks Strike in India; Demands Decent Pay Rise

United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) in India, mobilzed around 800,000 bank employees  for a Strike in 27 Public Sector Banks in India on 12th November 2014. Unions demand for a decent pay rise for bank employees which is due since November 2012. Unions have demanded a 23% salary increase; taking in to account of rising cost of living; but the banks have only offered 11%; so we have no other option but continue to agitate said Milind Nadkarni General Secretary of All India Bank of Baroda Employees Federation.

Jennings tackles G20

UNI’s General Secretary, Philip Jennings, gave the formal Labour 20 response to the Australian Federal Employment Minister Eric Abetz at the L20 in Brisbane. Jennings called on Australia as the chair of the G20 to deliver on jobs and the fight against inequality.

In his reply Jennings made a reference to Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s threat to “shirt-front” (a violent Australian football tackle) President Putin over the downing of  Malaysian Airline flight MH17. Jennings said he wanted to play fair but make a serious point about the G20’s obligations.

UNI General Secretary to tell L20 Summit: “World Needs a Pay Rise”

UNI General Secretary Philip Jennings will tell the L20 Summit today that workers need a pay rise.

Jennings will be speaking today during the “Rebuilding economies, jobs and wages” session during the L20 which will be attended by union leaders and the leaders of the IMF, the World Bank, OECD, ILO and representatives of the Australian government, including Prime Minister, Tony Abbott.

Erfolgreicher zentraler Aktionstag zur Tarifrunde 2014 in Ehningen | Schiedsstellenverfahren

1200 Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer setzten heute ein starkes Signal, um die IBM in der Tarifrunde 2014 unter Druck zu setzen. Mit ohrenbetäubendem Lärm machten die IBMerinnen und IBMer deutlich, dass sie endlich ein angemessenes Angebot von der IBM erwarten.

Bereits um 11.30 trafen die ersten Busse mit den Kolleginnen und Kollegen aus den IBM-Lokationen Böblingen und Herrenberg ein. Trotz Bahnstreik hatten einige sogar lange Anfahrten in Kauf genommen. Es waren Delegationen der ver.di-Betriebsgruppen Bonn, Erfurt, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hannover und Mainz vor Ort.
