Huge strike in Norway after proposed changes to working laws

Norwegian unions carried out nationwide political strike action for two hours on Wednesday in protest of the government’s proposed changes to the Working Environment Act.

The strike, which saw around 1.5 million Norwegian workers walk off the job, brought normal life grinding to a halt in the Scandinavian country and affected everything from schools and childcare services to public transport and air travel.

Greece votes no to austerity!

Italian Banking workers, to strike on January 30th

Unions belonging to UNI Global Union declared a day of General Strike, as ABI   decided to withdraw from the National Collective Agreement.

A long negotiation without results..

During more than 12 month negotiation, for the renewal of the National Agreement for the Banking Sector, ABI (the Italian Banking Association), reaffirmed the great difficulties in which banks are involved.

Jennings from Davos: Including You

UNI Global General Secretary, Philip Jennings said the ECB’s decision to give the Eurozone economy a massive 1.1 trillion euro injection was positive as long as it was used wisely.

He said the ECB decision had to get the wheels of investment turning again and income back in people’s pockets.

On the ECB announcement Jennings tweeted, “Bold message to the world. Europe determined to change the economic weather, time for business to dust off those investment plans #wef15”

Future skills in the graphical sector

As part of the EU-funded joint Intergraf and UNI Europa project, Future Skills in the Graphical Industry, a questionnaire was distributed in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Over 200 responses were received from Trade union representatives, companies and industry experts across Europe. These replies were then compiled into this final report which contains recommendations which are reproducible regardless of the country.

The report is a first step toward recognition, analysis and implementation of skills developments in the industry.
