Italian bank workers defending national collective agreement

Thousands of bank workers went on the streets in Italy to demonstrate against the end of the national collective agreement.

UNI's affiliates reported a 90%  participation rate for today's strike action, protesting at Italy's Banking Employers' Association's unilateral unilateral decision to terminate the national collective agreement and change bank workers' terms and conditions from April 1.

Unions declare Norwegian strike a success

Norwegian workers braved howling wind and rain to take to the streets during a successful national strike this week.

Hundreds of thousands of workers walked off the job in protest of the government’s proposed changes to the Working Environment Act. More than 20,000 marched on the Parliament in Oslo whilst further events were held in over 200 towns and cities across the country.

The future of publishing

In its meeting on 27 January 2015, the UNI Europa Graphical Steering decided to adopt the document “The future of publishing” which was discussed during a European Conference organised end of 2014.

Big Dutch banks want bankers’ plee in CLA

The law on new bankers’plee will be obliged for all bank employees in The Netherlands. To make this administrative simpler, the big banks agreed amongst themselves, to solve this through the CLA’s. Than all CLA employee is obliged to make this bankers’plee.

 

Members of FNV Finance do not wish such a law. They say it gives employers an extra stick to beat. Now FNV Finance is studying on extra safety guards for their members like assistance by the employer in case of dilemmas, employer-paid legal support and insurance in case of impeachment.

FSU Norway questions the effectiveness of performance measurement systems

Meaningful measures?

The finance sector is without a doubt one of the sectors that operates with highest frequency of performance measurement systems and have become a part of leadership strategies in our sector. A recent study conducted by the Norwegian Work Research Institute (WRI) on behalf of The Finance Sector Union – Norway (FSU-NO) shows that 90 percent of employees in the Norwegian finance sector are being measured on both individual and team-level performances.
