Health care assistants from across Ireland joined together in Dublin yesterday to launch their new sector and a new vision for the future of their work.

190 health care assistants gathered together to share their experiences, and meet others who, like themselves, work incredibly hard to ensure high quality care is delivered to the Irish community.

UNI Global Union expresses its grave concern for the physical safety of Prosegur union leaders in Colombia and Peru. Over the past few months, these union leaders have internationally denounced human rights violations by Prosegur.

Yesterday an anonymous communication denouncing the Sintravalores union appeared, questioning the use of the union’s strike fund. The statement titled, “United for the Dignity of Prosegur”, was not signed by any individual or group.

Philip Jennings addresses Morocco's UMT 60th anniversary conference

UNI Global Union General Secretary Philip Jennings addressed the 60th anniversary of the trade union centre UMT in Casablanca Morocco. The conference was attended by 2000 delegates including key political and business leaders. Jennings said, “It was one of the liveliest, noisiest conferences I have ever addressed!”

Moroccan affiliate UMT prepares for campaign

Last week the Congress of the Moroccan trade union UMT (Union Marocain du Travail) met in Casablanca. In the immediate aftermath of terrorist attacks in Tunisia, with the gains of the Arab Spring under pressure and with national workplace elections about to begin for workplace councils in each company worksite, the mood was determined and optimistic.

Marche à Tunis pour la lutte contre le terrorisme

Le 24 mars dernier une marche pour le soutien avec la Tunisie dans sa lutte contre le terrorisme a eu lieu à Tunis - elle a débuté à Bab Saadoun vers l’Assemblée Nationale et s'est dirigée vers le Musée de Bardo. Les manifestants ont scandés des slogans pour un monde plus précieux, pour l’amour, pour la vie et pour que tout le monde soit réuni pour la liberté et la justice. Plusieurs syndicats affiliés à UNI ont participé à cette marche.
