“White Tide” against Healthcare Privatization

The Korean Health and Medical Workers' Union (KHMU) had launched a series of campaigns against a wide range of healthcare issues throughout the month of May. Some of the activities include press conferences, rallies, a 'White Tide" road march, as well as a photo campaign.

UNI MEI calls on Italian government to respect public service mission of RAI

UNI MEI and its affiliates, representing over 140 unions and guilds and over 375 00 creators, technicians and other workers in the media, entertainment and arts in over 70 countries, are very much concerned with the recent developments in Italy regarding public service broadcasting. The recently adopted decree-law 66/2014 reduced the public transfers to the public television company RAI by € 150 million for 2014.

UNI Property Services Conferences in Liverpool next week!

Both the Global and the Europa Property Services Conferences are to be held in the world famous city of Liverpool next week. Delegates will arrive for the Europa Conference on Tuesday to discuss the progress on Union Organising in Europe in the context of austerity and the recent election results in the European Parliament. They will also be electing a new President as Hans Ohlund will be stepping down after being in office for 11 years.

UNI Apro and the quest for Equitable Employment

UNI Apro Regional Secretary, Christopher Ng sat as a panelist on the Panel Discussions on Equitable Employment at the World Economic Forum on East Asia held in Manila on the 23 May 2014. He emphasized the need for equitable employment and sustainable development and highlighted the importance of minimum wage in stablizing the economy and the society.
