The UNI affiliate in Kenya - the  KNPSWU - has recruited 4,500 new members, all of whom are employed by G4S, in under 3 months . They have also signed a new collective bargaining agreement with KKS, a large security company based in Kenya and have been lobbying the Government as it prepares the new Private Security Industry Regulation Bill through Parliament.

With 4 new Organisers and a fully committed activist base, the KNPSWU has set about its organising task with planning and strategy. They sent activists to training in March of this year at an event organised by UNI for cross sector unions interested in organising. The union then worked in partnership with UNI through funds designated for Organising from the UNI SCORE Department. Within weeks, the funds were delivered, the Organisers employed and the activists started recruiting.

The union ambition is no less than complete unionisation of the Security sector in one of the biggest economies in Africa and it is well on its way to achieving that.
