I am proud to have had the opportunity to work with many different affiliates, regions and UNI staff over the years and have learned a lot from them all.”
“My trade union roots are in Germany, where I learned what our work is all about – making workers’ lives better. Fighting against inequality, unfair treatment and striving for an equal society that is inclusive and gives opportunities to all.”
“Since our Breaking Through strategy was adopted in Nagasaki in 2010, UNI has been more focused, effective and strategic. With Christy as the new UNI General Secretary, we will continue on the great path UNI is on.”
There was glowing praise for Alke Boessiger’s appointment from President of UNI Global Union Ann Selin, General Secretary Philip Jennings and Deputy General Secretary Christy Hoffman.
Ann Selin said, “I am delighted to welcome Alke Boessiger as the next Deputy General Secretary of UNI Global Union. Alke has been a stalwart of the UNI family and we have complete trust that she is the right candidate to break through for workers around the world.”
