Smurfit Kappa Poland: successful collective bargaining

Our Polish colleagues from ZZP affiliate trade union have successfully concluded a 2nd round of collective bargaining at Smurfit Kappa Polska on 23.11.2016. Trade unionionist see the results of negotiation as a  ‘success for workers and the company’.

Krzysztof Biernacki of the ZZP SKP said: ‘We are very pleased that the negotiation has been conducted in a pleasant and professional manner and that we were able to achieve an agreement with our employer quickly. This is a good sign and so we stay positive and are looking forward to starting negotiation on a formal collective bargaining agreement in early 2017.’

On 23.11.2016, apart from a considerable pay rise, an agreement was reached on improvements to bonus system i.e. moving from annual to monthly bonuses and extending bonuses to additional groups of workers (in planning and transport departments).

There are further negotiation meetings expected between unions and SKP in early 2017.
