The future of employability in the finance sector
"Job Models, Certification of Competencies, Mobility: the future of employability in the finance sector" is the title of a project led by UNI Europa Finance affiliate First-Cisl and social partners from ten European countries: FIRST-Cisl and APF-FIRST, UNI Europa, FES-Ugt (Spain), FINANSFORBUNDET (Denmark), FBA-Cfdt and FEC-Fo (France), BASISEN (Turkey), OZ-PPaP (Slovakia), OS-PPP (Czech Republic), SINDACATUL UPA (Romania), SBS-Su (Slovenia), NSZZ-PB (Poland), FABI, FISAC-Cgil and UILCA-Uil (Italy), UNICREDIT Group, FBA (Italian Bank and Insurance Fund), Unicredit EWC, BNP-Paribas EWC, Credit Agricole EWC, Santander EWC.
Trade unions, EWCs, employers and institutions together to develop a common way to give a future to finance employees, professionals and managers.
The project is running towards the final events: a training course and the final conference.
Participants have first agreed on the need for finance workers to get ready to face the new professional challenges in the finance sector and meet the expectations of the employers, then two significant experiences in the sector have been thoroughly analyzed:
- The Unicredit group global job model is a way to give a unique categorization to professional roles within the bank group and it applies to employees in all countries, with the aim to make comparison of roles concretely feasible, promote career developments within an internal level playing field and make transnational mobility concretely possible.
- The manual for certification of competences in the finance sector by the Italian bank and insurance fund FBA puts together employers' need to select trained and competent staff and workers' expectations for an official recognition of skills and competences to concretely improve individual chances for employability, also or especially in the case of company crisis or restructuring.
The project has developed a number of activities (working groups, remote work, case studies and role playing) coordinated by FIRST-Cisl and APF-First, which represents Italian Professionals and Managers in the finance sector and has a consolidated experience in European projects.
The experience of project’s partners, with the significant further contribution of UNI Professionals and Managers and Eurocadres, proved evidence that the future of employees and P&Ms in the finance sector directly depends on their capacity to deal with the new world of works in an extremely digitalized sector and the chance to have professional competences recognized through a European wide system of certification.
Participants will gather in Palermo in April 2017 to finalize guidelines and working toolkits to manage and promote negotiations at transnational level on the issue and gain from the strategic cooperation of EWCs and Trade Unions.
