UNI Global Union General Secretary, Philip Jennings opened the UNI Leadership Summit on the New World of Work, saying that Donald Trump's election had drastically changed the path we are on. He said that Trump's presidency had implications for every global issue, politically, economically and environmentally that the Future World of  Work was bound up with.

Jennings was addressing the members of the UNI Global Union World Executive Board (WEB) who are attending the FWOW Leadership Summit before the annual meeting of the WEB on 16-17 November.  The Future World of Work is one of the key areas of development that UNI Global Union is driving in the run up to the World Congress in Liverpool in 2018.

The UNI GS set the tone by quoting Stephen Hawking who has said that full artificial intelligence could lead to the end of the human race. Expert Maja Pantic from Imperial College in  London said the challenge was about education and ensuring the developers kept in mind human values and morals.  Vanessa Evers from the University of Twente put out a challenge to the participants to help engineers develop robots who become of a positive FWOW.
