UNI Europa Commerce sends its message of support to its affilaitesd Union Solidarnsoc in Poland leading a campaign in Parliament to limit the number of shop openings on Sundays.

NSZZ „Solidarność” Commerce is preparing for the parliamentary debate concerning the draft bill on limitation of shop opening hours on Sunday in Poland. According to the draft prepared by the Union, shops openings would be limited to seven Sundays during the year. Besides that, only the entrepreneur would be allowed to work in certain shops located in specific places. If the Parliament adopted this law, it would contribute to improving working conditions in the commerce sector in Poland. Firstly, it would allow a better work-life balance for workers who will have more time to spend with their families or engaging in cultural or political activities. Also, health and safety conditions would be changed for the better in the sector, as working on Sundays, away from home can be a cause of stress and psychosocial problems.

Union’s members and citizens, who share the same view, are collecting signatures to start proceeding the bill in the houses of the Polish Parliament. The Union has to collect the required number of signatures within the end of August

UNI Europa Commerce stands together with Solidarnosc in its lobbying effort to convince the politicians and the public opinion about the value of this initiative. UNI Europa Commerce shares the values of a good work-life balance; workers have the right to fair and decent working conditions for their own good and for the good of employers.
