UNI Global Union to launch global youth organising forum in Cape Town, 19-21 October 2016

UNI Global Union is pleased to announce it will be holding the inaugural global youth organising forum in Cape Town, 19-21 October 2016 as part of the legacy of the UNI World Congress held in the city in 2014.

Invitations have already been sent out to all affiliates encouraging the unions to send young workers to this important event for the future of the labour movement.

The forum, which is being developed by UNI SCORE, will address young workers’ issues on organising which underpins UNI’s Breaking Through mission. Participants will also learn the key organising principles:  they will listen to case studies, learn how to handle objections and take part in mapping exercises.

It is envisaged that during the last day of the event participants will take part in a live organising campaign in Cape Town to utilise the new skills and ideas that they learnt from the forum.

UNI Youth will also hold a one-day conference for youth on the 18th October, just prior to the 3-day forum - the main focus of both events is to train and develop new skills for the young participants. These new tools and ideas can then be used to enable them to help organise companies when they return home to their unions.
