Unions from CPLP define guidelines on how to cooperate during the II Forum that took place in São Paulo
The Forum that took in São Paulo downtown, over the weekend, union leaders from Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Portugal, Cape Verde and Sao Tome and Principe, discussed problems faced by the workers of these nations in the II Forum of Unions from financial sector of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).
Bank Unions signed a charter of principles that aims to build an international solidarity and unity of unions in the Finance Sector at Portuguese speakers’ countries.
Participants had the opportunity to learn about the current situation in Brazil and at international level, with special attention to the regions with presence of Portuguese speaker countries. CONTRAF CUT also presented the relations CUT union with the Trade Unions of the CPLP. In addition, they acknowledge the UNI Finance Global Social Pact UNI Finance and the process of unification of trade unions in Portugal.
During the group discussions, the participants of the Forum stressed the need to establish contact with the East Timor Unions, Guinea Bissau and Equatorial Guinea to ensure the future participation of the same.
After two days of meeting and very positive dialogue, trade union leaders will return to their home countries with a difficult task to continue to look the world of work and to understand the difficulties that workers are facing at Finance Industry.
During the second Forum, the participants defined the new name of the group known as Trade Union Alliance of Finance Unions of CPLP.
Three different groups had discussed the main objectives of the alliance, including promoting exchange of information, experience and organizing CPLP Countries.
They decided to intensify cooperation between trade unions in the financial sector, promoting training activities, to cooperate to combat all forms of xenophobia, racism and discrimination of all kinds, which may affect the cohesion of the class, among others.
On occasion, representatives of Bank Unions of Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Mozambique, Portugal and Sao Tome and Principe, joined the mobilization against the coup in Brazil. Unanimously confirmed: There will not be coup d´état!
