The Unicredit’s Trade Union Alliance and the Unicredit’s EWC believe that the company’s revised Strategic Plan, as presented to them, included major critical issues that will negatively impact jobs and the working conditions due to various cost cutting and job reduction measures. They also raised the observation that no meaningful bonus reduction for management had been seen.

Both the Unicredit’s Trade Union Alliance and the Unicredit’s EWC strongly reaffirmed its utter opposition to the selling and/or outsourcing of businesses in Austria and Italy without first looking for alternative steps to be taken. This is in relation to the possible sale of its entities in Austria and Italy. 

The current number of redundancies foreseen by Unicredit in its plan, which started since 2014 and is to be completed by 2018, is estimated to affect around 18,000 workers.
Instead, the Alliance and EWC recommended that the Group should invest in innovation and digital technology with a strong policy aimed at enhancing employees’ skills and professionalism and create new jobs and employment.

The next Select Committee meeting is planned to take place on 29th February, while the plenary meeting will be held in Milano from 24th to 26th May 2016 (a session with the management will take place on 25th May).
In addition, the new Select Committee elected its new Chairperson, Angelo Di Cristo and the vice Chairperson, Beate Dura-Kempf. The Committee is now composed of 9 persons - 1 Austria, 1 Czech Republic, 2 Germany, 4 Italy and 1 Romania.
