On September 1st, a hearing was held at the Ministry of Labour of Brazil, where the Sindicato dos Comerciários of São Paulo obtained new benefits for commerce  sector workers  after four years of constant efforts.

In Carrefour, in the state of Sao Paulo,  modifications were introduced to the working day, now paying overtime to all workers who work more than 8 hours a day.

Also, additional rest was granted to all workers who work on Sundays or holidays. Paid weekly rest must be granted at most within 6 workdays.

Moreover, the union also managed to get Walmart nationwide, to pay their managers and directors all hours worked outside of working hours. This right to overtime pay is  an important step forward, given that their working days were of 12 - 15 hours a day.

UNI congratulates the Sindicato dos Comerciários for their struggle throughout these four years, and welcomes all these achievements of, and for the workers.
