Carrefour Poland receives NSZZ Solidarność award for effective social dialogue
UNI’s good global labour relations with French leading multinational retailer Carrefour gain local recognition in Poland with an award afforded to Carrefour Pool and management by UNI affiliate, the National Section of Commerce Sector Employees of NSZZ “Solidarność”.
In the framework of the UNI Europa Commerce Conference in Gdansk, Poland on 1-3 June 2015, to Ms. Justyna Orzeł, Director of Human Resources in Carrefour Poland received the award from Alfred Bujara, President of the Union for conducting real and effective social dialogue.
“Carrefour Poland differ from other multinationals active in Poland. They do not just pretend having social dialogue with Unions but they have efficient social dialogue with “Solidarność” Commerce in the stores and on all levels in the whole country. That is what we decided to appreciate”, said Bujara.
“Dialogue is one of the key values supported and promoted by the management of the Carrefour Group in the world. We are convinced that only the formula of social dialogue pursued between the employer and trade unions is a guarantee of respect and partnership in mutual relations” , said Justyna Orzeł, Director of Human Resources at Carrefour Poland. "The award granted by such a demanding and important party for us, which are trade unions, is a motivation for us to continue to improve the formula of the social dialogue in Carrefour Poland. I should emphasize the key role of Carrefour Poland employees, representing the trade unions - on one hand, on the other hand – the establishments’ Managements who are involved every day in the process of creating a bridge of understanding between the parties of the dialogue".
The award ceremony was witnessed by retail workers and unionists from all around Europe as well as the Director of Social Relations of the Carrefour Group Mr. Jean-Luc Delenne who travelled especially from France to participate in the ceremony.
“We appreciate Carrefour Poland Management for realizing the effective formula of the social dialogue in Poland and for HR policies which promote social dialogue in Carrefour Poland, encouraging the employees of all levels to be actively involved. We also esteem the "open door" days in Carrefour Poland hyper and supermarkets when employees can have direct contact with trade union representatives”, said NSZZ Solidarność President Alfred Bujara.
