Oslo, Norway – May 21 2015 - Telenor Group and UNI Global Union today renewed their global agreement. The agreement underlines both parties’ commitment to addressing employee issues across Telenor’s operations in a spirit of cooperation and dialogue.
“Telenor has a strong commitment to employee involvement across the group, through management dialogue with employees and their employee representatives, while acknowledging the obligation to respect the laws and regulations in the countries where Telenor operates. The renewal of our agreement with UNI accentuates this commitment and gives us the opportunity to continue and further develop our dialogue and cooperation with UNI, and actively address employee involvement issues across the group,” said Jon Erik Haug, EVP & Head of Group People Development.
UNI is the voice of 20 million service sector workers around the world, and the agreement gives a platform and framework for dialogue between UNI and Telenor on fundamental labor rights.
“This agreement confirms Telenor and UNI’s mutual commitment to respect the rights of employees to exercise freedom of association and collective bargaining. The management, employees and their union representatives are jointly responsible for developing good industrial relations based on mutual respect. We look forward to continuing our dialogue with Telenor as it grows its global reach,” said Philip Jennings, UNI Global Union General Secretary.
Today’s agreement is a renewal of the initial Global Agreement between UNI Global Union and Telenor that was signed in 2013. The two parties will continue to meet at least once a year, and are also committed to maintaining an ongoing dialogue and information exchange.
