An unidentified man entered the office of Colombian union Sintravalores on Tuesday threatening the union’s secretary.

Sintravalores, which represents workers at the Spanish security firm Prosegur in Colombia, reports that the man entered the union office and began taking photographs of staff members. When asked for his indentity and who had sent him, the unidentified man began yelling obscenities. He then left on a motorbike obstructing the view of his license plates. According to security footage, the man had been loitering around the union’s office on his motorbike for around two weeks.

Prosegur’s Colombian management have been involved in threatening behaviour towards union members in the past, falsely linking trade union leaders to terrorist organisations and criminal gangs. In November of 2014, a Prosegur manager punched a union leader in the mouth on company premises.

UNI is extremely concerned for the physical safety of trade unionists, and their families, at Prosegur in Colombia. Prosegur has not condemned the most recent incident of threatening behaviour in Colombia, or offered any assistance to the union.
