Royal Mail is offering 3 new services making it more convenient to receive and send parcels for its customers.
"Parcelforce" is a pick up from home service which allows customers to send parcels from home, while "Delivery to neighbour" is on the way to become a standard practice so that if a customer is not at home they try and deliver to a neighbour rather than taking back to the delivery office.
Finally Royal Mails offers a "Click and Collect" service, allowing customers to pick up their parcels from a local Post Office at their convenience.
The surge in e-commere means all postal operators are striving to continuously stay in touch with retailers' and customers' needs so as to be at the forefront of this new commercial opportunity.
Taking advantage of this momentum, CWU and Royal Mail have agreed to an agenda for growth committing to regular meetings to ensure the ongoing success of the company in an increasingly competitive postal sector. These involve working together to develop and implement new business strategies to win customers, grow parcels and retain letters traffic.
Specific topics to address as part of the parcels growth strategy will be:
· The approach to parcels automation within the current core network, including trials and the roll out of new technology.
· Further enhancements to hand held technology and software to meet increasing customer demands in this area.
Innovation is also in processes and this commitment to regular meetings between the union and the company is a good example of a renewed social contract to grow the company.
