On the 27th and 28th of March,  more than 40 women members from all UNI regions met in Madrid, Spain, for the annual UNI World Women’s Committee Meeting.

The participants worked hard on the discussion and preparation of the motions that will be presented at the 4th UNI World Women’s Conference in Cape Town in December 2014, which will take place before the UNI World Conference Meeting.

The motions addressed issues like:

 - The strategic priorities for the Breaking Through Plan for 2014-2018

-  Equal Pay for Work of Equal Value

- Women’s Health

-  For an Equal Society with public services, education and decent work

- Violence against women

Furthermore, the participants agreed on the details pertaining to the Conference such as the logo, the visual aesthetics and logistics. As this is the first conference to take place in Africa, participants were asked to immerse themselves in the African traditions and the role of women.

During the meeting the participants were also able to listen to the reports on activities from each one of the UNI regions and the actions undertaken in the last year by each Regional Women’s Committee.

Ideas for a new UNI campaign on Equal Pay for Equal Work were discussed.

Finally, the participants agreed that the next Committee meeting would take place in Cape Town, right before the Conference takes place.
