UNI affiliate from Kenya the Kenyan National Private Security Workers Union continues to grow at an astonishing rate since its Organising Campaign was launched last August. Another 1,500 workers have joined since Christmas as the union pushes out its growth from Nairobi into surrounding areas. A combined effort by local activists and national officers has seen organising teams working out in areas where workers are usually isolated and hard to contact. All weekend the organising teams have been on the road talking to workers and building networks.

The General Secretary and his team are working with support from UNI who have provided funding from the Organising Fund to assist the union in its growth. They now have 7 recognition agreements with security companies and expect to have agreed another one with G4S in the next few weeks.

KNPSWU is now the second largest union in Kenya.
