Workers’ group considers the Commission’s decision not to present legislative proposals relating to health and safety until the end of its mandate as unacceptable and irresponsible.

The Workers’ Group of the Advisory Committee on Safety and Health at Work (ACSHW) met in Luxembourg on 16 October 2013.

The Group discussed the Commission’s Communication REFIT published on 2 October 2013. The Workers’ group considers the Commission’s decision not to present legislative proposals relating to health and safety until the end of its mandate as unacceptable and irresponsible.

It also considers that the Commission must respect the principle of autonomy of the social partners as enshrined in the Treaty. The Commission must respond positively and promptly to the request of the signatories of the agreement on health and safety in the hairdressing sector to implement the agreement by a directive, in accordance with the provisions of the Treaty.
