UNI has sent a letter to the Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Trade and Energy regarding the plans to privatise the telecommunications company, Albtelecom.



The letter seeks the governments help to ensure that working conditions are protected and that they adhere to the requests by our affiliate, the Sindikata e Punonjesve Poste Telekomit shqiptar (SPPT)

Dear Prime Minister,



Privatisation of Albtelecom



UNI Global Union represents over 15 million members in 900 unions in over 150 countries worldwide including over 2 million workers in the telecommunications industry.



We have been informed by our affiliate, the Sindikata e Punonjesve Poste Telekomit shqiptar (SPPT) about the issues outstanding regarding the privatisation of Albtelecom.



The SPPT are conducting a protest on July 2nd 2007, which will focus on the fulfillment of the social and economic requests from SPPT Albania in accordance with your national law.



UNI and our affiliates fully support the SPPT and we urge you to ensure that the SPPT’s requests to protect the working conditions are taken seriously and acted upon.
