Head of Department – Equal Opportunities
A vacancy exists at UNI Head Office in Nyon, Switzerland, for the position of Head of Department responsible for Equal Opportunities issues.
The job focuses on the servicing the activities the constitutional UNI Women’s Committees and to plan and implement the global activities of UNI Equal Opportunities department.
Duties include:
· Developing policies and practices to promote equality and counter discrimination based on the gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability and creed on a global level.
· Working with other UNI departments on equality and diversity issues.
· Developing activities to assist unions in their organising efforts to grow unions.
· Liasing with affiliates and other international organisations in areas such as gender relations, race, disability and migration.
· Assisting in making sure that gender equality is being considered in all the work, policy decisions and actions of UNI at global, regional and sectoral level; and its application is respected.
· Reporting to, servicing of, and implementing the decisions of the Sector committees and conferences at the regional and international levels;
· Representing UNI with outside bodies;
· Disseminating information to affiliates, monitoring developments in the sector and related sectors and the activities of affiliates;
Candidates must be able to write and converse easily in English. Knowledge of any other of the official languages of UNI is desirable.
Candidates should be able to communicate and disseminate information easily to affiliates using the Internet and the UNI website.
The person appointed will be expected to work with the team of UNI officers dealing with sector and professional questions under the direction of the General Secretary.
The terms and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the collective agreement applying to all staff employed at UNI Head Office.
