Security officers in Minneapolis and Saint Paul won access to affordable health insurance, higher wages, improved training and equipment, and sick leave in an agreement reached on 9 April between the SEIU and their employers.



The deal follows months of negotiaions with ABM, Allied Barton, American, Securitas, and Viking, and a 1 day strike in February, highlighting the need for affordable health care for all workers in Minnesota.

The 5 year deal provides for 25-35% wage increases, provision of better safety equipment for workers, but most importantly, increasing the employer contribution for family health insurance from as little as 20% to 65% by the end of the contract.



Workers will vote on the deal this Saturday.
