The unions played a role in DRUPA

The stand, arranged by our colleagues from ver.di, was decorated with posters, hand-outs and trade union flags. UNI Graphical Global Union focused on the promotion of the Agreement on Social Dialogue reached in Latin America with Conlatingraf. For these intents and purposes the sector distributed brochures (translated into five languages) on the Agreement achieved with the Business Chambers.
Our ver.di colleagues inundated Drupa with trade union warmth and energy: dozens of activists, wearing T-shirts claiming wage increases in keeping with the price rises of basic products, walked around the Fair, day after day. It was an excellent initiative on behalf of ver.di, which greatly enhanced the claim-staking facet of our presence there.
Comedia from Switzerland; UNITE from the United Kingdom; the Finnish Media Union from Finland, as well as unions from several other European countries visited the stand. The UNI Graphical Sectoral Committee, headed by the President, Michel Muller, visited Drupa, spent some pleasant moments with the ver.di colleagues and got an inside look at the main progresses made in the industry.
“For us it was a good opportunity to combine a seminar on vocational training for trade unionists and activists with their attendance at Drupa,” said Josef Peitz of ver.di.
Approximately 400 thousand people from all over the world visited the Fair, with sales topping around 540 million Euros. The next Drupa Fair will take place from 3 to 16 May 2012 in Dusseldorf.

“The hordes of visitors to the Fair proves that the industry continues to boast great vitality, but also that we are entering into a different kind of industry. The new printing processes being created, will give rise to new qualifications and we unions must get ready for that phase,” declared Michel Muller during his visit to the Show.
