"No union no production", E-Kart Workers are not slaves, E-Kart workers are not alone! Collective Agreement is our right, Strike is our weapon!, Long Live Class Solidarity! Pressure couldn't stop us!	On 16 June, workers started a march at E-Kart’s office and went to the main gates of the most important production facility, the department where the bank and credit cards are processed. Two shifts of workers from this department went on strike. Basin-Is members came to Istanbul, capital city of Turkey, from different parts of country to give their support to the strikers. “No union - no production”, “E-Kart Workers are not slaves”, “E-Kart workers are not alone!”, “Collective bargaining is our right, Striking is our weapon!”, “Long Live Class Solidarity!”, “Pressure won’t stop us!” – cheered Basin-Is members. Just before the strike started, management illustrated “Social Partnership” a-la E- Kart – they hired new workers to replace the strikers. This management action was done in violation of laws on Collective Agreement Strikes, Lock-out and security standards. Basin-Is will take this matter to the Labour Court. "This strike is not for wages or social premium but for basic workers’ rights to unionize and bargain collectively even in a democratic country, even in a company of well known Turkish Group Eczacibasi and German Multinational Giesecke&Devrient, who call themselves a socially responsible business", - declared Basin-Is President Yakup Akkaya, addressing the strikers. “Turn back from your wrong way and negotiate with the union who has the legal right to negotiate", Faruk Buyukkucak Istanbul Regional Head of the Confederation, Turk-Is, demanded of E-Kart management.

"The managers use every kind of coercion, intimidation to force the workers to resign from the union and pressurize not to unionize. However, we will win with our solidarity and the strong will of the striking workers to unionize”, stated Basin-Is Head of Istanbul Branch.
