Around 2 weeks ago, we reported that cleaners and activists from FNV Bondgenoten in the Netherlands joined colleagues from the French CFDT and UNI PS in Paris to meet with the management of French company Pierre et Vacances. A subsidiary of Pierre et Vacances operating in the Netherlands, Center Parcs, had contracted its cleaning work to the German company Menke which was violating its workers rights, including the right to organise.



During this meeting in Paris, Pierre et Vacances agreed to intervene and set up a meeting between itself, FNV and Menke.



This meeting has resulted in an agreement between Menke, Center Parcs and FNV which will provide for reinstatement of dismissed workers, for payment of equal wages and entitlements to all staff and for the establishment of a workers' council to manage future dispute resolution.



Workers and their unions are happy to see their employer respecting trade union rights, and to experience the power of international solidarity. Thanks again to CFDT for their support.
