On May 16th, 2009 PIT.Ua ran a conference in Kiev. They examined activity reports and elected new officials to enhance PIT.Ua – Ukrainian trade union of Information Technology industry workers, operating in Ukraine since December 2006.



The most important event at the conference was the agreement reached between PIT.Ua and the Union of Project Managers to join PIT.Ua. A new board was elected and the organization structure adjusted respectively. A new name was given to the organization: Union of Information Technology, Telecommunication and Business Technologies workers (PIT.Ua).



During the conference new organization executives were elected and Andrew Hnatyuk became the head of the new board.



Sergey Kondryuk, Head Deputy of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine, characterized the conference as “an important event in the history of building the civil society not only in Ukraine but in Europe as well”. He announced a message by Vassily Khara, Head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine, that the Federation is highly interested in collaborating with the new union PIT.Ua. As a first step they will work together on the “Decisions for Life” international project.



Among those who joined the conference was Andrew Mrost – Representative of Pan-European Regional Council and International Confederation of Trade Unions in CIS region, Sergey Kondryuk – Deputy Head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine, Oksana Zavoiko – Coordinator of online branch of “Decisions for Life” project.



Priority goals of PIT.Ua outlined during the conference were: creation and development of regional subsidiaries of the organization and participation in the “Decisions for Life” project which is dedicated to young women.



Decisions for life project - Delivering fair information to young women regarding capabilities to find a job on the market, career growth, family planning and maintain a persistent balance between career and family life. Their choices are crucial to national demography and workforce renewal.
