As part of the project on Transnational industrial relations in the heart of a social and ethical finance industry, a workshop was held in Prague gathering employee and management representatives from four multinational companies: Erste Bank, KBC, Unicredit and Nordea. The aim was to exchange best practices on industrial relations and the role of multinationals in social dialogue in Central and Eastern Europe.

The four companies all represent ‘good practice’ as regards social dialogue and employee involvement and have activities in Central and Eastern Europe.

The workshop was an exchange of experience on the internal communication and dialogue, the cooperation across borders, and the integration of the Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries in the social dialogue of the MNC’s. Common themes were that representatives from the CEE countries felt they were treated like second-rate employees and that all decisions were taken very far away and that there was very little scope for negotiations with local management.
