During the UNI europa ICTS Forum, 91 participants from 17 countries have gathered on 28-30 October in Helsingor, Denmark, to discuss the role of ICT trade unions as regards climate change. UNI europa affiliates had the opportunity to debate various topics such as future skills and training needs, technological aspects of greening the work place or introducing green ICT into collective bargaining with representatives from the EU Commission, the European Parliament, NGOs and the ICT industry. The Forum adopted a resolution, calling upon governments and negotiators at the Copenhagen climate summit to commit to more ambitious and binding CO2 emission reduction targets. UNI europa emphasises that a new Green Deal that stimulates investment in Green ICT and infrastructure in order to help the economic recovery, create new jobs and facilitate the transition to a low carbon economy is needed.
