HP/EDS employees working on contracts with the Department for Work and Pensions in the UK are voting on whether to go on strike after job redundancies and pay cuts.



UNI's affiliate Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union said there has been “growing anger” after the merger of HP and EDS last year and the successive pay cuts. In addition, 3’400 jobs were made redundant with another 1’000 to come next year.



PCS general secretary Mark Servotka declared: “Staff has been contributing significantly to HP’s revenue whilst shouldering greater workloads…yet their reward is more job cuts, imposed pay freeze and pleas from the company to take a voluntary pay cut”.



The ballot which runs until November 30th is asking members to vote on a strike action which could take the form of a series of one or two day strikes.
