UNI europa met its Turkish affiliates in Istanbul on14-16 December 2009 on the occasion of the sectoral training seminar organised within the framework of the civil society project of the ETUC.



About 40 representatives from Tez-Koop-Is, Koop-Is, Basisen, Basin-Is, Sosyal-Is, T-Haber Is, Sine-Sen, Bank-sen and UNI/UNI europa attend the training seminar held on 14,15 and 16 December in Istanbul. The aims of the seminar were to strengthen the contacts and the mutual exchanges between the Turkish trade unions and UNI europa, to improve the knowledge and the understanding of each others and inform them about opportunities and challenges that represents the future enlargement of the European union.



Participants exchanged views on issues of common concern such as the respect of trade unions rights in Turkey, gender equality, EU social dialogue. Much of the discussion focused on union strategies to cope with the behavior of multinational companies established in Turkey and to organize workers of these companies.



To conclude the seminar, the participants adopted a declaration in which UNI europa reaffirm its strong support to the Turkish trade unions and its willingness to further develop cooperation and activities with them.
