The 17 unions in the company Norway Post have joined forces to establish an executive committee and select a Group representative. The newly formed Executive Committee elected unanimously Postkomleder Odd Christian Øverland as "Group Representative".



At the inaugural meeting of the executive committee Thursday last week there were representatives from the 17 different unions who worked together to stake out the course ahead. It is agreed that the composition of the executive committee should be representative, so that the seats are distributed according to the number of members. Executive Committee consists of 47 elected representatives from all unions in the various businesses in the Norway Post. Postkom has with its 27 members a majority on the committee.



One of the questions executive committee will decide is whether to establish a working committee. Several associations expressed the view that there is a need for a smaller committee to tackle the ongoing issues and they signalled willingness to be represented by other unions in such committees.



-Postkom organizes about 90% of all organized workers in the Norwegian part of the postal group. It is quite natural that Postkom will have a majority position in both the executive committee and in the event of a working committee. But we are helping to find solutions that give other associations the opportunity to safeguard their interests, emphasizes Postkomleder Odd Christian Øverland.
