The DFL campaign targets young female workers in the services sector which is fastest growing and is dominated by women.

Coordinator of the DFL campaign in Southern Africa Patricia Nyman of SACCAWU, South Africa, informed the 11^th UNI Africa Women’s Committee that met in Cairo, Egypt on 8 March that the DFL campaign aims at promoting decent work for decent life.

She said six countries in Southern Africa Angola, Lesotho, Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe were participating in the four-year DFL project.

UNI affiliates and national centres are working together at national level to implement the DFL campaign.

She said coordinating committees and coordinators have been chosen in the participating countries and the campaign was now working on unifying the various national actions plans.

In South Africa, unions held outreach programmes at shopping malls, universities and workplaces to bring the union message to young workers during youth day and the 16 days of activism of no violence against women and children.

The DFL campaign is helping unions to organise and actively involve young workers in unions.
