Following his return to the Americas in late 2009, Raúl Requena, the new UNI americas Regional Secretary was on Mission to Trinidad and Tobago on the 21-24 March 2010 and visited the UNI Americas Caribbean Support Center -UNI A CSC . During his visit, arrangements were finalised for the location of the CSC in Trinidad and Tobago and for the Coordinator Joanne De Freitas to remain in the region to facilitate UNI activities, promote UNI goals and objectives and serve our Caribbean affiliates.

Meetings were organised between Raúl Requena and the three local UNI Affiliates .

* Communication Workers Union CWU (Telecom / Hotel)

* Trinidad and Tobago Postal Workers Union TTPWU (Post /Logistics)

Strategic meetings with key Multinational Companies operating in the Caribbean in the Finance Sector were held with Trinidad and Tobago representatives and the discussion of Framework /Partnership Agreements in the Caribbean was clearly promoted by the Regional Secretary. Several MNC were identified for UNI focus and potential organising efforts by UNI Caribbean affiliates

There was also a brief visit to the Industrial Court of Trinidad and Tobago where Industrial court Judge and former General Secretary the local Finance Union met with the UNI representatives.

UNI World Executive Board, and UNI Americas Regional Executive and Finance Committee member Trevor Johnson, the General Secretary of BIGWU welcomed the return of Bro. Requena to the region and indicated his Union’s support for the UNI americas Caribbean Support Center and the promotion of UNI Global Union in the Region.
