STAD delegates officials from across Portugal met with UNI Property Services Organiser Nigel Venes to discuss the establishment and development of trade union cooperation between the two organisations. During the visit, a joint analysis of the cleaning and security industries was undertaken, plans were discussed and it was agreed that the objectives of the two organisations were complimentary.



UNI Organiser Nigel Venes said; “From our extremely good discussions, it is clear that there are many problems for security and cleaning workers in Portugal and these employers thrive by creating a climate of fear in their workplaces. The best way for us to overcome these issues is to help build strong, fighting unions. UNI is proud to work with our Portuguese colleagues in STAD to change this climate and help workers win better conditions. The Prosegur campaign is a great way for us to start this work.”



STAD General Secretary, Carlos Trindade said; “We had very successful meetings and we now look forward to working closely with UNI on this campaign.”
