Pledge to fighting against challenges faced by postal unions

East Asia Postal Unions gathered in Seoul Korea and pledged to cooperate closely fighting against challenges they are facing such as privatisation and deregulation of postal services in this region.
They were analyzed the current situation of postal services and concerned about full open up postal market in EU scheduled to start in January next year in particular.
The 8th UNI-Apro East Asia Postal Unions Forum held on 8th September 2010 where particapated around 70 union officials from JPGU Japan, CPWU Taiwan, KPWU Korea and UPOE Hong Kong as well as UNI-Apro hosted by the Korean Postal Workers' Union.
Brother Christopher Ng, Regional Secretary of UNI-Apro, has emphasized the importance of global agreement like memorandon of understanding between UNI-Apro and APPU which has signed recently. He on behalf of UNI-Apro postal affiliates has presented the plaque to Brother Takeuchi Norinaka, President of UNI-Apro Post & Logistics on his effort and cooperation in commemoration of succesful signing ceremony in BangKok at the opening.
As the host union, Brother Lee Hang-ku, President of KPWU warmly welcomed all the participants and pointed out we are having many hardships such as full-time union officials and trade union plurarism issues in Korea by the labor act rivision.
Brother Jang Seok-choon, President of FKTU and Mr. Namgoon Min, CEO of Korea Post welcomed overseas participants and expressed their support postal workers at the opening remarks.
Each union representatives from JPGU, CPWU, KPWU and UPOE made their own country reports including remarks from Brother Ching Tzu-chen, President of CPWU and Brother Ip Kam-fu, President of UPOE.
Brother Ito Eiichi, Director of UNI-Apro Post and Logistics has presented on the pressured effect by the EU and USA over the Japanese postal financial reform in conjunction of WTO rule.
Brother Takeuchi, President of JPGU has expalined UNI Nagasaki congress to be held in November and encourated to attend more colleagues as the special report.
Finally panel discussion under the theme of privatization and deregulation of postal services conducted by a moderator, Brother Roh Joon-hwan, Coordinator for Sector, UNI-Apro and panelists from each unions. They has agreed to cooperate for exchange information and doing action together whenever happening some serious changes or challenges are raised.
Prior to the forum, management committe meeting took place one day earlier and discussed practical issues such as forum program, review of forum agreement etc.
Next forum is due to hold in Taiway hosted by the CPWU.
