All participants visited APPU to celebrate conclusion of MOU between APPU and UNI Apro. APPU course directors informed us of the meaning of MOU in the postal crisis. Then all participants visited Laksi Mail Center. It is the biggest mail center in Thailand. Participants were impressed by the unique transportation of motorcycles as new service so called logispost which created by the Thailand Post. It was a proud implementation of Thailand Post strategy to focus on logistics.

Sis. Magdalene Kong, UNI Apro Director of Youth, lectured challenges of Regional Economic Integration. She stressed importance of ASEAN and ASETUC, then the committee agreed to set up ASETUC post and logistics industrial council. Bro. Suffian, President of UPUS, informed the possibility of UNI Apro Post and Logistics participation to ASEAN Post, ASEAN wide organization of employers. Bro. Nakata, JPGU Executive committee member, gave a lecture on WTO impact on Japan Post. He emphasized that we should study WTO. Bro. Roh gave updated report on defend universal postal services including challenges we are facing such as deregulation, privatization and mail volume declining etc.



Major discussion was made for Postal Financial Services. We recognized that there were a lot of postal services, which gave us postal financial services, or which wanted to start PFS in the post office. Bro. Theagarajan, General Secretary of FNPO, described India Post as the oldest and largest banking institution in the country, but it was under National Savings Agency. India Post wanted to have an own Postal Savings Bank. Bro. Weerasekara, President of UPTO, gave an overview of Sri Lankan Postal Services. It was a limited scale, but tries to expand. Bro. Effendy, General Secretary of UPCW, informed us of retail services of Pos Malaysia. He regretted that Pos Malaysia lost POSB. Bro. Krittawat, General Secretary of SEWU-THP, informed of setting up the Postal Bank by Thailand Post, which was intended only to provide with microfinance. But he stressed that it would develop into bigger bank. Sister Nora, President of DBS staff union, gave an interesting overview, because DBS was a partner of setting up DBS, No.1 bank in South East Asia. There were a lot of discussions on the theme, because it reflected the level of crisis, which postal services all over the world encountered. Finally, participants discussed 2010-2011 Work plan and adopted it unanimously.
