Following a year of one-sided negotiations, a group of Unite members, many working on the Rolls-Royce Account are to start strike action today.



This is in support of a pay claim on behalf of ‘Rolls-Royce Image Terms’ members who mainly work at the Bristol and Derby sites. The strike will initially consist of a 2.5 hour stoppage, 11:00 to 13:30 on March 16th.



Throughout, the Unite negotiating team have given HP management every opportunity to come up with a suitable offer but HP management insist on maintaining what seems an indefinite Pay Freeze.



Members feel this is unacceptable considering the vast profits HP continued to make even during these difficult economic times thanks in part to the additional efforts being made by many employees.



When this action was announced HP management condemned it and suggested further talks. Unite welcomed this but despite Unite making attempts to initiate further talks none have been forthcoming. This has left the feeling that the current action may need to be escalated.



Prior to the strike action today there has been a low key ‘work to rule’. Overtime and on-call have not been impacted but this may change after further consultation with members.
