UNI Apro Youth Messages of Support to UNI LCJ Youth
Dear Elizabeth Ama Denyoh, President - UNI World Youth
Dear Martina Hartung, President - UNI-Europa Yough
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Thank you for your warm solidarity message expressing your concern over devastating earthquake and tsunami that happened and hit the northeast area on 11 March, and the aftermath of nuclear plant’s problem.
Since that, all the trade unions in Japan including UNI-LCJ member unions have been trying to confirm our members’ and families’ safety but we do not know to what extent our members have been affected by the earthquake and tsunami, while death toll has been increasing day by day to our dismay. We also have been making great efforts in relief activities for victims and assisting those who have been badly damaged by the disaster.
In this difficult time, we need to be united and give each other help. Especially young people who were luckily less damaged are fully committed to assist in the relief activities in every possible way, from saving electricity, fund-raising, blood contributions, not stocking up water and food, to helping as volunteers in the devastated areas.
At this time of sorrow, your warm message gives us courage and strength to overcome this calamity and rebuild our nation. Once again I appreciate your kind compassion.
Fraternally yours,
Toshifumi Igarashi
UNI-LCJ Youth / Vice President of UNI-Apro Youth
Dear Bro. Toshi,
Dear UNI LCJ Youth,
In this times of trials and difficulties, we hope that our small words and gestures of encouragement and expression of solidarity would be able to give you and all our sisters and brothers in Japan, the strength and courage to cope with the aftermath.
As you might also be aware, the UNI family all over the world are undertaking fund raising activities – where of course, the actual amount may not be big – all these actions are once again our way to show that we care and we share.
Likewise, myself and many individual members have been/ would be participating or at least aware of the many national/ local fund raising efforts e.g. in Singapore, the Red Cross Society and Mercy Relief have/ are organizing a series of activities to mobilize aid to Japan.
In addition, tomorrow is Earth Day. I am sure many young and ‘not so young’ citizens of the world will stand together with our fellow friends in Japan to conserve energy and raise a greater voice on the urgency to protect our earth for the present and the many younger generations to come.
We are confident of the resilience and the united spirit of the Japanese people which will pull them through and out of this crisis.
In solidarity always,
UNI Apro Youth
SOLIDARITY MESSAGE FOR JAPANESE COLLEAGUES
From the Youth Committee, Union Network Philippines
All has been said about the strength of the earthquake and the tsunami that struck Japan last week. We have followed all the news coming from every type of media available knowing that even with the expected extent of the
destruction, we are all still hoping for the best.
Our heart pours out to all our Japanese colleagues that have been affected by the earthquake and tsunami. We are one with you in this time of grief and trial. And we express our deepest sympathy to all those who lost their life and property during the onset of these tragedies.
It has been a week now after that fateful day. And it’s now time to rebuild shattered dreams and broken lives. With the Japanese character of resilience and cooperation, we know that it is only a matter of time before everything would be back to normal.
Japan has been the world’s donor in almost every aspect; helping countries to be self-sustaining and sufficient. Much like our Japanese colleagues from the different unions of the UNI-Liaison Council of Japan who have been helping its counterpart unions here in the Philippines. Everyone of us are indebted to you for your support throughout the years.
It may not be in terms of financial or material things, but we express our solidarity with your efforts for recovery. You have been giving your heart out to everyone for a long time, it is now our time to return the favor and help in whatever way we can.
