On 31 March, the 1st batch of the Rengo Volunteers Teams to help disaster victims was sent off and members from UNI’s Japanese affiliates were also joining in.






JTUC-Rengo, the Japanese labor national center, has been actively supporting the life of suffered people in Northeastern and North Kanto regions since Rengo Disaster Relief Task Force was set up on 14 March. Rengo appealed all affiliated unions to send relief materials for the victims, to mobilize volunteers and to make donation for the devastated areas.



The most significant activity by Rengo is dispatching volunteers to three disaster prefectures (Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima).

Around 150 volunteers including officials and members from UNI affiliates were sent off to the devastated areas as the 1st batch from 31 March for one week, and the number per week will be gradually increased.

The rotation system is taken and around 25,000 volunteers in total will be dispatched for the upcoming three months.



Volunteers will help sorting of relief materials, food service, cleaning and water supply at evacuation centers etc.
